Causes and hazards of low carbon concentration:

Large temperature fluctuations or too little catalyst will cause insufficient carbon concentration on the surface. The ideal carbon concentration is between 0.9-1.0%, lower than 0.8%C, the parts are easy to wear.

Ways to prevent:

①The carburizing temperature is generally 920-940°C. Too low carburizing temperature will cause low carbon concentration and prolong carburizing time; too high carburizing temperature will cause coarse grains.

②The amount of osmotic agent (BaCO3) should not be less than 4%.
