What to prepare before nitriding
In order for the nitriding parts to have higher comprehensive mechanical properties in the core, it is generally required to undergo quenching and tempering treatment before processing. The tool and die are quenched and tempered to obtain the tempered sorbite structure (the tool and die are tempered martensite structure) ).
Precision parts with complex shapes and high distortion requirements should be stabilized for 1 to 2 times before finishing to eliminate the stress caused by machining and ensure the stability of the organization. The stabilization temperature should be higher than the nitriding temperature, and neither the stabilization temperature nor the nitriding temperature should be higher than the tempering temperature.
The surface roughness of the nitrided parts also has an impact on the treatment effect. The rough surface increases the unevenness and brittleness of the nitrided layer.
Under the same nitriding conditions, the depth and hardness of the nitriding layer are related to the tempering temperature of the quenching and tempering pretreatment.
